Personality: Kaede is your average Miss Happy-Go-Lucky type of girl. She's naive, but she cares a lot about others. She can be pretty stubborn every once in a while. She's also very determined to keep all of her friends safe. If one of her friends was in trouble and someone told her that it was too dangerous, she would go through with it anyway if it meant saving her friend. Kaede is normally in a cheerful mood, but she could easily turn feisty if you pick on her because of her height or her flat chest. She's very touchy whenever someone questions her about being a gravekeeper. She's clumsy and sometimes takes action before thinking.

Appearance: Kaede is rather small and fragile for her age. She stands roughly four feet and seven inches tall and weighs about ninety-nine pounds. She is often mistaken for a middle school student because of her height. The girl also gets verbally abused by boys around her age for being flat-chested. She's a petite girl with slender and dainty arms. She has long, goldish brown hair and innocent, bright green eyes. Kaede is practically the younger version of her mother, Emiko.

Kaede was happily born to Hana and Sora Akarui. Kaede is a cross between a human and a gravekeeper so that's why she can express human emotions unlike other gravekeepers that are practically emotionless and dead inside. Hana, of course, was her mother. Hana was a gravekeeper, so she was given several names to go by. Emiko was the one she used for when she met Sora. Kaede's long lost father was Sora Akarui. However, Sora left to travel the world before Hana found out she was pregnant with Kaede. Kaede lived happily with her mother in a small village up on a hill. She helped around the village and made sure everyone was happy. She never got the chance to go to school since there wasn't a school nearby for her to attend to.

Hana taught Kaede the important things like math, reading, proper grammar, and agriscience because Kaede worked on a farm. When Kaede turned twelve, her mother passed away and so Kaede became the new gravekeeper of the village. They needed a gravekeeper and since Kaede had gravekeeper blood in her, she would have to carry it on. A young couple gladly accepted Kaede into their family with welcome arms. It was just the three of them. A few months had gone by and Kaede was fitting in with her new family. They loved her deeply, but they had been hiding a secret from her the whole time. One day, Kaede was putting her tools away since it was the end of the day. She wandered around in the village and it seemed to be a little bit too quiet.

The girl opened up the door and walked into her house, announcing to her foster parents that she was home... but no one was there. Kaede walked out and walked down the path, making a turn around the corner and she bumped into a tall albino. The man asked her about a woman named Emiko. He described what the woman looked like, and Kaede said that she didn't know anyone that looked like that. The two went separate ways and Kaede went to the very top of the village to find her foster parents holding each other but they weren't alive.. A man came out and told Kaede to run and that it wasn't safe there. But, Kaede noticed that the man had decaying flesh on his face. Sora walked in and shot the man, putting him out of his misery. Kaede turned around to see the man from earlier, and she attempted to attack him with her shovel. Sora dodged her attacks as if it was nothing and he kicked her in the face, making her fly backwards. He told Kaede that she had been living in a town of the deceased.

That was the secret her foster parents kept from her. They were all dead. They just needed a gravekeeper to give them a proper burial otherwise they would go on roaming around like a bunch of zombies. Sora made Kaede bury all of the villagers. The girl followed Sora because she had no one else to rely on at the moment. She followed him to see where he would end up taking her. Sora insulted Kaede by saying she wasn't a gravekeeper. Gravekeepers have no emotion, and they don't have real names. They have copies of themselves, and they have several identities for themselves. A beautiful woman appeared as if she came from nowhere. Sora looked at her and said, "Now, that's a gravekeeper." He asked the woman how many names she had.

Murderer, Scar, Mary, Scar... Sora was trying to make a point to Kaede that she wasn't a gravekeeper. He described to Scar about a woman he was looking for. Scar said that there were eight results but none of them were named Emiko. Sora also asked Scar if there were any living deceased up on the hill. Scar said that there were none, and they had all been buried properly. That caught Sora off guard and he stared at Kaede, wondering if it was true that she could be a gravekeeper. The two continued to travel together and get to know each other. There were many times Sora put a gun to Kaede's head because he believed she would not be able to make it in the dangerous world by herself. But, he never did shoot her.

They ran into Sora's childhood friend and blah blah blah. Let's get to the important stuff. Sora pushed Kaede off of a bridge when there was an enemy raid attack towards him. He was saving the girl's life by doing that. Kaede fell into the deep water below the bridge and was dragged onto the land by Sora's childhood friend. Sora's childhood friend, Julius, showed Kaede a picture of the woman Sora was talking about. That's when Kaede found out that Sora was her father. Kaede heard from Julius that some band of rogues took Sora away when he pushed Kaede off the bridge.

Meanwhile, Sora was being tortured to death but he put up a good fight. Kaede burst in the little shack with the gravekeeper they met before, Scar. As they fought the rogues off, Kaede described her mother aloud. Flat-chested, long brown hair, green eyes, around 20 to 30 years old, naive, and a bit ditzy. Most of all, Kaede said that the girl Sora was looking for was her mother. Sora watched his daughter fight, and he thought of how troublesome Hana was to have a baby without telling him that the baby was his.

The man sat there since he was chained to the wall and couldn't do much until the rogues ran off. Kaede rushed over to be with her father before he could give up on life. Sora told her his real name and added his last name to Kaede's name. It was the most beautiful name Sora had ever heard. Kaede Akarui... Sora was an immortal, and his wish was to die like everyone else so he wouldn't have to be the last person on earth. He also wanted to die happy, and he was more than happy at that moment. Sora passed away that afternoon with a smile on his face as Kaede buried him on the top of the hill with the other villagers. Kaede traveled the world with Julius and Scar and ended up staying the night in Sylveran where everything went wrong. She can't leave the village at the time being. When Kaede was thirteen, she buried a boy named Aruto Howling, who had been murdered by his girlfriend. Now, she's fourteen years old and living life to its fullest. She reunited with the boy she buried, but this time he's alive.

Ryuuki Stormcatcher - Kaede was late for a movie and so all the good seats were taken. She looked around for an open seat and there was one next to a handsome boy. That's when she met Ryuuki.

Plotting with Aruto Howling: A boy she buried a year ago. Now, she has met him once again but he's alive this time. The idea is for them to become best friends but they might become more than friends. Who knows~ We'll just have to wait and see!
